How the calculator works
ElevenLabs bills every product from one shared monthly pool of credits. For text to speech, standard models use about 1 credit per character, and ElevenLabs estimates roughly 30 minutes of speech for 30,000 credits, so the calculator uses about 1,000 credits per minute. If you enter words, we multiply by 6 characters per word (an average including spaces). Faster Flash/Turbo models can cost less via the API, so treat the result as a safe upper estimate.
For dubbing, credits are charged per minute of source media: 2,000 (automatic, watermark), 3,000 (automatic, no watermark), 5,000 (Dubbing Studio, watermark) or 10,000 (Dubbing Studio, no watermark). Dubbing into several languages multiplies the minutes, so enter the total.
The retakes buffer adds a margin for regenerations, which also cost credits unless ElevenLabs marks them as free. 10–20% is realistic for most creators.
How the plan is chosen
The calculator picks the cheapest plan whose monthly credits cover your estimate and that meets your requirements:
- Commercial use (monetized YouTube, client work, ads) needs a paid plan, from Starter. The Free plan is non-commercial and requires attribution.
- Instant Voice Cloning needs Starter or higher.
- Professional Voice Cloning needs Creator or higher.
Plans checked October 21, 2026: Free $0 (10k credits), Starter $6 (30k), Creator $22 with the first month at $11 (121k), Pro $99 (600k), Scale $299 (1.8M), Business $990 (6M), Enterprise custom. Annual billing costs 10× the monthly price, so two months are free. Prices exclude taxes.
If your usage changes a lot from month to month, remember that unused credits on paid plans roll over for up to two months while you stay subscribed. A smaller plan may cover an occasional heavy month.
